Dr. Joy arrived in Nova Scotia with her family in 2023 from Oregon, US. She completed her pediatric residency in 2009 and worked in primary care for 4 years before realizing her heart lay in specialty care and specifically, in developmental and behavioral pediatrics. Her specialized training and experience includes child maltreatment, integrative pediatric medicine, and an expansive knowledge of neurodiversity and medication management of mood and behavioural differences.

Dr. Joy’s pediatric expertise is a most welcome and important addition to Affinity’s growing multidisciplinary assessment and intervention services. In addition to her role as consultant pediatrician with Affinity Group, Dr. Joy is also employed with the IWK Health Centre, and operates her own private practice, Orchid Pediatrics. She speaks fluent Spanish and is bicultural, having grown up between the US and Mexico. She values diversity, equity and inclusion. Partnership with families is key.
